Hi everyone in blog land, I am the reason for no blogs for a while, Quentin and Ruby have been so busy looking after me,feeding me cheese, sea snails and rabbit pate, no time has been free for keeping you informed about the parisendofcampbellstreet.

It is up to me to keep you up to date of some of the goings on here.

Sunday morning and we set out  for a day out along the Seine under the arches in a batobus (tourist boat) being watched by the large bridge goddesses that glare down from the  central column of each bridge. There were many many Parisiennes along the banks sunbathing including these two boys who were enjoying the sunshine and were able to air their budgie smugglers for the first time this season.

Next idea we have is to go through the park riding on the locally loved and respected bicycle, the Velib, which has to be taken out of  a ‘station’ and placed back once you have finished your ride.

The process of obtaining  a Velib took 39 steps (not including the many times I had to start again),  a third of the instructions were in French.

Yes, the photo is sideways…..

Anyhow, we get to the park and its full of sunbathers, row boats , joggers, these very proud parent swans and dogwalkers.

Tucked away in a residential area is a tiny house turned into a work of art. From 1938 to 1964, Raymond Isidore decorated every surface of his home, inside and out, with broken pieces of china. How he and his wife lived in it I don’t know but it is exquisite to look at. Sadly its decaying and very little seems to be happening to maintain it.

We returned to the restaurant over the river and had that romantic dinner.
The sky misted the rain drizzled but we walked around ’till 1 am trying to take in every installation in the Chartres outdoor light show. To be honest I didn’t expect much, thinking it would be a few coloured lights shining on buildings. Happily I was so wrong.

The variety of installations was great -some were like watching a film, some where psychedelic colours endlessly melting into each other, some were like meeting a time traveller. The camera does not do it justice.

While we were in UK  I left Pere Lachoise (our pet snail) in the care of Guilaume, Julien and Arnaut at work. When I told them his name they variously heard Pierre la Chaise (Pierre the Couch) and Pierre la Chose (Stone the Thing). Here are some updates we received from Guillaume while we were away …

Guillaume> Pierre does not seem to go very well today. If you agree, I suggest to release him in some park nearby Ircam …

Quentin>If he looks sick then release him to the wilds to be free in the big wide world !  tear trickles down cheek…..

Guillaume>I think he was thirsty and poisoned by the rottening cucumbers. I have changed his house and I hydrate him regularly. He seems to be fine now, yet sleepy for the time.
